BSc.Geomatic Engineering

Description

Geomatic Engineers manage spatial data acquisition, management and analysis, and all other development projects, geographically based, necessary for our developing country.

KAAf University College has been very creative by effectively combining academic studies with practical training. It has produced graduates who are practical-oriented with academic and scholastic excellence. It has engaged in teaching and research with a lot of emphasis on extension work. It has  prepared graduates to establish careers in their chosen areas of specialization and through its problem-based teaching and extension services, trained practitioners who are prepared to go to the field and dirty their hands and therefore applying theory to practice.

The aim of the Geomatic Engineering programme is to provide broad-based education and training in Geomatic engineering sciences and their applications that will enable graduates to meet the challenges of the engineering profession in a rapidly changing environment such as exists in a developing country. These challenges require the ability to apply existing knowledge in new ways thereby creating new systems and opportunities as well as adapting existing technology to local conditions. They require the ability to collate spatial data, maintain the resulting spatial databases and improve upon existing data infrastructure as well as new infrastructures. The programmes and courses are therefore guided by these concepts.

Candidates applying to the programme must meet the following entry requirements:

WASSCE I SSCE Candidates – Credit passes in Six (6) subjects, comprising three (3) core subjects. English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science plus three (3) relevant elective subjects: Chemistry. Physics and Elective Mathematics.

(GCE) ‘A’ Level Holders: The three (3) ‘A’ level subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Elective Mathematics. Applicants with ‘O’ level must have at least 5 passes.

HND Holders: Applicants must be a graduate in HND Surveying and Mapping. Applicants with two (2) years certificate in Surveying and Mapping from a recognized institution would be placed at level 100 programmes.
