BSc. Business Administration (Marketing Option)

The Marketing Department at the Faculty of Business is tailored to help students achieve an excellent grasp of the rapidly evolving discipline of marketing. Our department has a rich balance of academic distinction and industry experience in various sectors including telecommunications, aviation and hospitality.

The aim of undergraduate program in Marketing is for our students to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become competent and honest Marketers and Marketing Executives or Managers.

The course contents will enable the students acquire and understand knowledge relating to areas relevant to Marketing in our institution. Again, the course will enable the students acquire general education, such as: Oral and Written Communication, English, Ethics and Computer knowledge. Furthermore, the degree incorporates the opportunity for students to apply their knowledge to practical situations. The program will facilitate the acquisition of essential skills, such as analysis, synthesis, problem-solving, critical thinking and the ability to work in a team, among many others.

The fundamental objectives of the program are to inculcate in the students the ability to access and analyse information using basic tools for analytical thinking, good judgment, entrepreneurship, leadership and other critical managerial skills. The specific objectives of the program are to:

  • Develop skills and impart knowledge in the students so as to enable them to systematically and comprehensively record financial transactions pertaining to a business.
  • Help students gain a broad understanding of Accounting and Accounting Principles.

Entry Requirements 

  • SSSCE Candidates:

Passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

  • WASSCE Candidates:

Credit Passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level Candidates:

Applicants should have passes in three (3) “A” level subjects. Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (C6) in five (5) GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and a Science subject (for non-science students) and an Arts subject (for science students).

  • Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) Candidates:

Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better).

Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GCBE).

  • Matured Students Entry:

The applicant must be at least 25 years old and show proof of age with a birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of birth date which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.

  • Applicant must pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examination in English Language, Mathematics and an Aptitude Test. In lieu of such examinations, the applicant must show proof of credit passes in English Language and Mathematics in WASSCE or any other nationally recognized Standard High School level examinations (for qualifications from countries outside WAEC’s aegis).
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) Candidates:
  1. Applicant must have graduated with a good certificate (i.e. at least 2nd Class Lower Division).
    1. In addition, the applicant must have acquired a 2-year Post-HND qualification working experience.
  • Candidates would be placed at the appropriate Level.
  1. Other Diploma qualifications from elsewhere assessed to be equivalent to HND by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) may be similarly considered.
  • Professional and Other Entry Qualifications:

All professional certificates and other qualifications beyond those specified will be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for establishment of their equivalences.

  • Foreign Qualifications:

All foreign qualifications would be referred to the National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences for admission.
