Master's 12 Months

The Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation and Law at KAAF University is designed to provide advanced legal education and specialized expertise in taxation law, policy, and administration. The programme equips legal and financial professionals with the knowledge and analytical skills required to support effective tax governance, compliance, revenue mobilization, and economic development in Ghana and the global context.

The curriculum integrates advanced legal theories, taxation law, policy analysis, and emerging areas of law. Core courses cover domestic and international taxation, corporate taxation, tax policy and development, electronic commerce law, and tax investigations. The programme also includes electives, seminars, and a dissertation, enabling students to develop research competence and practical expertise in taxation and related legal fields.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze and interpret taxation laws and policies at national and international levels.

  • Apply legal frameworks to enhance tax compliance, administration, and revenue mobilization.

  • Advise on corporate and international tax planning and dispute resolution.

  • Conduct advanced legal research and contribute to tax policy formulation and reform.

  • Address emerging issues in taxation, including digital trade and international taxation.

Students have access to modern lecture halls, computer laboratories, and a well-resourced digital and physical library with access to online journals, databases, and e-books. The University also provides e-learning platforms to support blended and research-based learning.

Graduates of the programme can pursue careers in:

  • The Judiciary and Attorney-General’s Department

  • Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and other public revenue institutions

  • Ministry of Finance and policy agencies

  • Law firms, tax consultancy, and corporate legal departments

  • Financial institutions and international organizations

  • Academia, research, and policy think tanks

For admission to the LLM programme (Taxation and Law), the applicant must have a first degree preferably Second Class Lower or better (or a Final Grade Point Average of at least 2.0) in Law or a closely related field of study from any recognized/accredited University.

Applicants with Third Class may be considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.

A formal interview may be used to determine the ability of applicants to complete the programme on schedule.

All foreign qualifications will be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalence and eligibility for admission.

The University provides comprehensive academic support through academic advising, research supervision, mentorship, and seminar guidance. Students are supported throughout coursework, seminars, and dissertation writing to ensure timely completion and high academic standards.
