About the Department

The Bachelor of Science in Midwifery programme at KAAF University is designed to prepare prospective midwives with the knowledge, skills, and highest standards of professional integrity. The programme embraces an inclusive philosophy that values every individual—regardless of colour, belief, race, or socioeconomic background—and upholds the dignity and worth of human life.

Our training is grounded in the belief that midwifery is both a science and a calling. We promote life preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation across the physical, social, mental, and spiritual dimensions of health. Students are equipped to provide compassionate, evidence‑based care throughout the continuum of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and newborn health.

The programme also recognizes the realities of healthcare, including moments when death is inevitable. In such circumstances, students are trained to support clients and families with empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity—helping them navigate end‑of‑life experiences with peace, dignity, and spiritual comfort.

Through rigorous academic instruction, clinical practice, and ethical formation, the BSc Midwifery programme at KAAF University develops competent, reflective, and compassionate midwives who are committed to promoting safe motherhood and improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes in Ghana and beyond.
