About the Department
The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) is an interdisciplinary academic programme devoted to the study, examination, and analysis of the rules, principles, and institutions established by society to promote justice, order, and social harmony. The programme explores legal systems, the functions of law in society, and the formal rules that govern legal processes, while also examining how these rules are shaped by political, economic, and sociocultural forces.
Students gain a strong foundation in legal reasoning, statutory interpretation, case analysis, and the philosophical underpinnings of law. The curriculum is designed to develop critical thinking, ethical judgment, and a deep understanding of the role of law in national and global contexts.
Upon graduation, students are adequately prepared to enroll in the professional bar certification programme at the Ghana School of Law, positioning them to pursue careers as legal practitioners, legal scholars, policy analysts, or professionals in related fields.
Programme Structure
The LL.B Degree is offered in two cohorts:

Three (3)-Year LL.B Degree Programme For applicants who already hold a first degree in any recognized discipline.

Four (4)-Year LL.B Degree Programme For applicants who are non–first degree holders and are enrolling directly from senior high school or equivalent qualifications.
